Leaf-beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) as an element of ecological monitoring in Białowieża Primeval Forest
Ecological monitoring of the Chrysomelidae in Białowieża Primeval Forest included the years 1988–99. On five study plots in three forest biotopes (Calamagrostio-Piceetum, Tilio-Carpinetum i Melitti-Carpinetum), various types of traps were enabled to collect 43 species of leaf-beetles. Three of them – Longitarsus suturellus (Duft.), L. symphyti Heikert. and Crepidodera nitidula (L.) – have been recorded from Białowieża Primeval Forest for the first time. It is concluded that, due to the low number of collected individuals, this family of beetles is of limited use in ecological monitoring.
