Usability of the herbicide Roundup in limiting of the Armillaria rhizomorphs development in the forest plantations
Initial laboratory and field experiments were made in order to reduce the regeneration of rhizomorphs by using Roundup herbicide.
The effects of Roundup (0,15%, 0,25%, 0,5%, 1% and 2% concentrations) on the development of the rhizomorphs from the mycelium contained in the artificial inoculum, on the regeneration of rhizomorphs isolated from the food base and on the control of regenerating rhizomorphs development in relation to the way of soil preparation and planting are described.
The application of the 1% and 2% Roundup solutions led to the die-off of the mycelium in the inoculum, while mycelium remained alive and active in the case of inoculum treated with the 0,15%, 0,25% and 0,5% solutions. Low concentration of the Roundup solutions stimulated development of the rhizomorphs isolated from the food base. The best limiting effect on the regenerating rhizomorphs was achieved by washing the furrow edges with 1-% Roundup solution.
