Biological activity of insecticides used to control Melolontha spp. white grubs
The direct contact activity of organophosphates (diazinon, chlorpyrifos, terbufos) and carbamates (carbosulfan, carbofuran, oxamyl) was tested on common cockchafer larvae and adults and large pine weevil adults. The action durability of systemic insecticides (carbofuran, oxamyl, terbufos) was evaluated using large pine weevil adults as the model insect. The examined insecticides showed low contact activity against common cockchafer larvae, but were highly active against adults of this species. The durability of action of tested insecticides depended mainly on formulation and active ingredient.
