Biochemical aspects of Armillaria spp. infection of trees
Infection process of trees by Armillaria species is described in the paper. This includes the biochemical interaction between pathogen and tree, the role of phenolic compounds in the system of tree resistance as well as the characteristic of different fungal phenol oxidizing enzymes. Usability of phenolic compounds and pathogenesis related proteins concentrations in colonized tissues as biochemical indicators of infection during the initial phase of the process was also discussed.
