Effectiveness of steelblue jewel beetle Phaenops cyanea (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) catching with artificial traps
From tested different types of traps (yellow sticky foil boards, yellow crossed-board traps, white sticky boards and black sticky bands), the most useful ones to Phaenops cyanea beetles catching are bands from black foil, width 60 cm and length 100 cm, bound around the tree at 1–2 m height and cover with sticky substance.
Effectiveness of Phaenops cyanea beetles catching with bands from black foil could be increased through application on them a preparation (kairomone) that consists of: guaiacol, a-pinene and pine oil. Such combination may be use in practice to forecast and maybe to limit the population number of the insect.
