Possibilities of protection of the horse-chestnut Aesculus hippocastanum L. against the horse chestnut leaf-miner Cameraria ohridella Deschka et Dimic
Effectiveness of protection of the horse-chestnut against the horse chestnut leaf-miner Cameraria ohridella was evaluated using diflubenzuron and chlotianidine. Spraying of trees with water suspension of Dimilin 25 WP (0.05%) and Dimilin 480 SC (0.025%) during the first swarm of butterflies was found to protect horse-chestnuts effectively against damage throughout the growing season. Insecticide Apacz 50 WG containing chlotianidine when applied to the soil beneath the trees at a rate of 0.3–0.4 g/cm of stem circumference protects them against the horse chestnut leaf-miner for three growing seasons.
