Evaluation of retention condition in forest catchment areas
The retention ability of Forest Research Institute’s experimental catchment areas, two of which were almost completely forested (of the River Czartusowa down to the Szklarnia profile and the River Żeźwianka to the Balinka profile), and one of agricultural exploitation (along the River Branew down to the Flisy), was investigated with the use of retention curves. The detailed equation of the hydrological balance for these catchment areas was solved with the Dębski method, allowing to apply the standard observation and measurement data and giving sufficient accuracy. The obtained retention curves were analyzed against the background of the catchment areas’ hydrological and physicogeographical conditions.
