Distribution of the Srmillaria species and their host plants in Poland
The occurrence of five Armillaria species in Poland was confirmed due to the results of the identification of 1700 samples collected in all parts of the country between 1988–1998. A. ostoyae was most frequently identified from the samples coming from all parts of Poland and most from forest ecosystems, same as A. cepistipes and A. gallica. Differently A. borealis was collected in the stands in the northern and central parts of the country only. In the western part of Poland on a single location near Gubin the A. mellea, thermophilous species was also found. 23 species of trees and shrubs were determined as hosts of A. ostoyae, while 19 of A. cepistipes, 12 of A. borealis, 9 of A. gallica and only 3 of A. mellea.
