Damages of trees and soil cuased at timber harvesting in late thinnings of Pine stands
The significant influence of methods and technological processes at timber harvesting and the distances between strip roads on tree and soil damages were presented in the paper. Indexes of tree and soil surface damages were prepared and applied for damage assessment. Short-wood method in which chain saw and forwarder are used and whole-stern method with chain saw and horse caused the least damages. Small damages was also found when a harvester and forwarder were used in a short-wood method. Properly established strip roads can limit the damages.
