Influence of technological processes on labour productivity and costs of wood harvesting in pine stands of elderly class of age. Part 1. Late thinnings
5 technological processes of wood harvesting were the subjects of investigation (including 2 representing cut – to – length methods and, 3 – whole stem methods).
Forest felling and wood bucking were performed in the processes with the use of chain saw or harvester while the wood extraction by horse skidding, forwarding or skidding.
Spacing out of strip roads was as follows: 20, 30 and 50 m. The best labour productivity (47,1–36,0 m3 /8 machine hours and extraction distances 100 – 1000 m respectively) was achieved by applying harvester and forwarder in cut – to – length method. Significantly smaller costs (31,9–52,1 zł/m3 depending on the process, exploitation of machines and extraction distance 100–1000 m) – appeared in the same method with the use of chain saw, harvester or forwarder.
Also, significantly low cost (38,4 zł/m3) was characteristic for the whole stem method with the use of chain saw and horse skidding on the distance of 100 m.
