Abstrakt

The reaction of chosen soil enzymes to increased level of soil contamination with cadmium-zinc dust on research plots in the Niepolomice Forest was investigated. Investigations of soil acidity (pH) and amount of organic carbon were carried out at the same time. Introducing cadmium-zinc dust initiated the process of soil alkalisation. Activity of investigated enzymes differed: invertase was largely unaffected but betaglucosydase was inhibited by high doses of applied dusts (over 1000 t/km2/year). Lower activities of urease, asparginase and acid phosphotase were observed on research plots with high doses of zinc dust.
All doses of introduced cadmium-zinc dust caused significant reduction of dehydrogenase activity to 80-95% compared to the control.
