Growth and development of Polish provenances of Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) in the IUFRO 1972 experiment
The investigation results of genetic variability of growth features and plasticity of Polish Norway spruce provenances growing on 30 experimental plots established in Poland and Canada (IUFRO investigation 1972) were presented in this paper. Total diversity of growth features was 6.099 of standard deviation units; so the total variability was very high. Variability of individual populations was also rather high and ranged from 4.674 (Kartuzy provenance) to 2.192 (Rycerka Zwardoń spruce provenance). This variability means that growth of population on particular plots was different. Five provenance groups of different growth properties were found based on the standard deviation.
